Overview
HIM Analyst - 40h Days (Temporary & 100% Onsite) at Sturdy Health. The Health Information Management Analyst analyzes inpatient, observation, ED, outpatient SDC, Endoscopy, and Pain Management records to ensure quality and completeness of clinical documentation as required by CMS Conditions of Participation. Responsibilities include reviewing records for accuracy of clinical authentication and proper assignment of documentation by providers, assigning deficiencies to providers to facilitate completion of records, assisting in the Physician Suspension process, processing requests for Release of Information in accordance with HIPAA, and scanning, quality checking, and incorporating paper records into the EMR system as needed.
Responsibilities
Analyze inpatient, observation, ED, outpatient SDC, Endoscopy, and Pain Management records to ensure quality and completeness of clinical documentation per CMS.
Review records for accuracy of clinical authentication and proper assignment of documentation by providers.
Assign deficiencies to providers to facilitate completion of records and support the Physician Suspension process.
Process requests for Release of Information in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws.
Scan, perform quality checks, and incorporate and validate paper records into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system as needed.
Qualifications
Self-starter with ownership mindset; ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
Excellent command of verbal and written English with strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Ability to clearly, accurately, and professionally present and explain complex information to internal and external stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, creative and critical thinking skills.
Ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently.
Excellent telephone skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication with all stakeholders, including providers and internal/external customers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to operate general office equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot computer or system failures with IT to resolve downtime timely.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and productivity.
Safeguard patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards.
Educational Requirements
High School graduate; Associate Degree preferred.
License/Certification
RHIT preferred.
Experience
One or more years of office/clerical/computer experience preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in Health Information Management.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred; experience with Meditech and Cerner a plus.
