Job Summary

Understand and lead team with development of Actuator Driven Mechanical Systems by evaluating Design concepts on multiple occasions along the program design timeline. Provides engineering direction throughout the new product development process and supports the design development, including but not limited to the development of preliminary design criteria and concepts. Oversees and reviews design criteria and concepts working with designers and other engineers Creates and maintains engineering and program documentation, including but not limited to DFMEA’s, DVP&R’s, timelines, open issues, budget tracking, GD&T, ECN’s and DCR’s. Directs, monitors and approves engineering and program documentation activities completed by other engineers on programs Coordinates/facilitates and documents benchmarking activities. Develop or adhere to (depending on RASIC) program targets based on benchmarks for complex systems Represents Exteriors Engineering on moderately complex technical programs and major issues both internally and externally with minimum supervision May coach, counsel and mentor assigned product engineers in accordance to Magna Employee Charter. May consult performance reviews, promotions, and monitor training / development needs. May assist in succession and career progression planning Leads and co-ordinate activities with minimal guidance with CAE, testing, plants, R&D, Program Management, Sales and Marketing as required (e.g. RASIC Chart, Gate Reviews, etc.) Leads the investigation and resolves complex components or multiple subsystems and/or assembly problems utilizing 8d’s, DOE’s and other critical thinking problem-solving tools. This includes support of SixSigma projects as required using DFSS tools. Supports prototype manufacturing and build activities, and lead design coordination with Tier 2 suppliers. Provides engineering support including BOM development, feasibility studies and technical presentations to support quote activities. Responsible for compliance analysis implementation of regulatory, legislative and Customer Specific Requirements. Actively participates in continuous product improvements and innovation, and assists in product development cost control. Coordinate innovation development of materials and services (e.g. mockups, rapid prototypes, developmental testing, etc.) Supports engineering book of knowledge with documentation pertaining to new product/process descriptions, where appropriate. Identifies best practices and lessons learned opportunities to be utilized in product designs and communicates lessons learned for the benefit of other programs. Identifies and reports any problems relating to the product, process and quality system. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years diversified engineering experience. Experience with electromechanical or mechatronic components preferred Knowledge of basic electrical engineering principles and SW/HW development process preferred Kinematics and actuator experience with automotive active systems (Grille shutters, air deflectors, running boards, & spoilers etc.) CFD and Wind tunnel testing experience Excellent interpersonal skills with both written and verbal communications At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
