Plumbing Engineer

This role will participate in the full project cycle with a focus on complex sector work such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, labs, and commercial high-rise projects from the design phase through final construction close-out. Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile projects with design services for over 30 million square feet of medical facilities. Your Impact / Responsibilities
With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
Perform basic professional plumbing engineering work related to research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, buildings, infrastructure, and usage; assist with installing plumbing, fire protection and suppression, and fluid flow systems in accordance with applicable rules and permits.
Assist with development of technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems; implement future-ready solutions with plumbing design standards.
Write technical reports summarizing research and specifications, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, technical drawings, and software.
Assist technical staff and project managers with risk identification and assessment, providing input and analysis for design concepts, construction, mitigation and improvement activities and projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of site work and code compliance.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Work with engineers, architects, and building/infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded projects.
Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures, exercising responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience.
Familiarity with plumbing and mechanical engineering principles, practices, and design/build processes as applied to project work.
Familiarity with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including rehabilitation and new design.
Strong knowledge of plumbing and mechanical system codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping.
Analytical mindset with the ability to exercise sound judgment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
Self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and related tools.
Experience with discipline-specific design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
Commitment to workplace safety and ability to comply with WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies.
Ability to accommodate project-specific schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training Certification.
Previous design experience.
Membership or active participation in local professional practice organizations.
