Overview
Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems seeks an Engineer Systems (25-477) to join a team of professionals in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL. This role supports the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels; work is on-site with no remote options. Relocation assistance is not available. Clearance type: Secret. Travel: 10% of the time. Position Overview
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an operational platform that enables planning, monitoring, and control of networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC connects, integrates, and synchronizes autonomous sensor and weapon systems to improve performance and supports ground and flight tests to verify capabilities. This is a collaborative role developing systems engineering products to support DoD programs. The ideal candidate learns quickly, works well with an experienced team, and applies technical principles to solve complex problems. Essential Functions
Collaborate with experienced engineers in executing tasks related to: requirements engineering, solicitation and decomposition; use case development; logical architecture modeling; interface definition; system engineering tasks in accordance with program standards; problem-solving and development of solutions of limited to moderate scope; strong interpersonal skills to interact with cross-functional teams; ability to ask clarifying questions, seek guidance, and proactively enhance knowledge; results-driven mindset to meet milestones; adherence to standards and procedures; cross-functional collaboration, researching technical topics, and meeting deadlines; some use and application of technical principles; work may be performed under close supervision or general guidance; internal contacts with occasional interaction with customers. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related) with 2 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a STEM-related field with 0 years of relevant work experience. Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance required to start. Minimum 1 year of professional experience in any aspect of the Systems Engineering (SE) V-Model. Skills in: requirements engineering (solicitation and decomposition); use case development; logical architecture modeling; interface definition; system test or requirements verification. Preferred Qualifications Certificate: Completion of a Systems Engineering Graduate Certificate Program (examples: UCSD, Stevens, MIT, Caltech). INCOSE Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) Certification. Object Management Group Certified System Modeling Professional - Model User (OCSMP - MU). Experience in systems engineering for DoD Information Systems and Missile Defense Systems. Formal Systems Engineering education is advantageous. Proficiency with DOORS, JIRA, CAMEO; ability to present technical material. Familiarity with Missile Defense Systems (MDS), including sensors, firing systems, interfaces, and the C2BMC mission.
