Police Officer Direct Annual Compensation Effective 07/01/2024, 07/01/2025, 07/01/2026. Pay steps vary by education and POST certification level:

Police Officer – $93,468 to $129,000

With Associate Degree – $95,820 to $132,192

With Bachelor Degree – $98,208 to $135,528

With POST Intermediate – $98,124 to $135,420

With POST Advanced – $105,612 to $145,776

Additions to Base Pay Special Assignment Pay: 5%

Special Assignment Stipend: $62.51/month

Bilingual Pay: $106.32/month

Longevity Pay: Beginning at year 5

Recruitment Incentive Program $4,000 paid upon hire; $3,000 paid upon successful completion of probation; $3,000 paid upon successful completion of three years of service from initial hire date.

Job Definition and Essential Duties Under general supervision, perform duties involved in law enforcement, crime prevention, investigations, traffic enforcement, and related technical/administrative tasks in support of the Department. Assignments may include Patrol Officer, Detective, Field Training Officer, S.W.A.T. Team Officer, K-9 Officer, Traffic Officer, M.A.I.T. Officer, Range Master, C.Y.S Officer, and Y.E.S Officer.

Supervision Exercised Exercises no supervision.

Minimum Qualifications Experience:

One year of experience working with the public and current employment as a California peace officer, or one year with another state and a California P.O.S.T. Waiver of Attendance Certificate.

Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by P.O.S.T. Academy coursework.

License or Certificate:

Valid driver's license; P.O.S.T. Academy Graduation Certificate or equivalent; P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate.

Special Requirements Essential duties require physical abilities and work environment: sit/stand/walk/run, lift up to 100 lbs; exposure to various conditions; travel; shift work; on-call availability.
