Overview
We are seeking a
Well Intervention Specialist
to join the Unconventional Resources Completion Engineering Division (URCED) under the Unconventional Resources Completion Operations Department URCOD. URCED provides completion engineering support for unconventional fields, including multistage hydraulic fracture design, execution and evaluation, well completion design, and day-to-day engineering and operations support for field rigless activities. The well intervention specialist will provide required support for rigless well intervention operations (wireline, slickline, coiled tubing and snubbing), including plug and perf frac operations, post-frac wellbore coiled tubing cleanout, through-tubing fishing and milling operations, and evaluation and deployment of new technologies related to well intervention operations. The specialist will also conduct site visits and attend critical operations when needed. Key Responsibilities
Plan well intervention activities and validate results; provide solutions for wells with integrity issues with support from a well completion specialist. Perform routine well intervention, well diagnostics, and downhole remediation practices; prepare field operational procedures. Model well and field completion performance and integrity using industry-recognized software; ensure compliance with regulations and standards; maintain well barriers in all intervention types. Execute intervention operations in unconventional wells (completion design, tubing movements, coiled tubing, wireline, slickline, hydraulic fracturing, flowback); develop detailed programs for each operation. Familiar with wellhead and downhole completion design, optimization, and troubleshooting. Provide solutions to enhance well intervention operations, cost efficiency, and safety. Investigate issues and perform root cause analysis. Lead special projects and studies (e.g., new technology trials); participate in engineering standard reviews and development of young professionals. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized program. 10-15 years of experience in rigless well intervention operations, including design, planning, and execution of wireline, slickline, and coiled tubing in critical sour gas and preferably unconventional environments. Experience in unconventional resources or HPHT (High Pressure & High Temperature), tight gas & oil wells; strong understanding of well intervention and stimulation operations and their impact on well completion. Extensive knowledge of industry regulations, safety practices, and standards related to surface and downhole equipment selection. Experience in optimizing surface well intervention operations using the latest technologies and best practices. Experience in fishing operations using Slickline or Coiled Tubing. Working environment
