The Crump Group, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented
Research & Development (R&D) Scientist
with a specialty in freeze-dried food processing for our North Carolina facility. This is a new role reporting directly to the R&D Director (based in Ontario). Job Type: Full-time Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year Responsibilities
Lead and support the formulation of new freeze-dried products through the gated product development process – researching ingredients, conducting pilot testing, coordinating and running plant trials, and bringing our visions to life. Organize, lead and conduct new product plant trials. Set up production standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new and current products. Initiate and lead process improvement projects for processing, baking, and packaging to align with the company’s continuous improvement goals. Collaborate with the R&D, Manufacturing and Quality teams to ensure new product implementation and scale-up runs smoothly. Support Regulatory and QA initiatives to ensure formulations and labeling comply with regulations (FDA, AAFCO). Maintain accurate records of all technical work and documentation. Support overall timeline development and project management initiatives. Qualifications & Experience
Ideally, minimum 3 years of experience in research and development in the manufacturing industry, with preference for food/pet food. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Food Science, Food Engineering or similar, with proven experience in freeze-dried food production. Ability to manage multiple priorities in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Experience with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, etc.). Recipe for Success
