Overview
Scientist, R&D - Product Development OR Sr Scientist, R&D - Product Development (Dairy). This role will lead product development projects across the dairy portfolio, including Cream Cheese (Elevation Platform), working with brands like Philadelphia. The level (Scientist or Sr Scientist) will be determined by work experience. Responsibilities
Independently lead product development projects from formulation through scale up and start up Responsible for commercialization of new and reformulated products and successful transition from development to production Work with cross-functional teams as the lead product developer to drive execution across multiple projects Act as the R&D point person for the manufacturing plant; assist plant operations with troubleshooting, design and/or product quality issues; support general brand maintenance to ensure business continuity across multiple categories as needed Interact with Operations, Center R&D, US Business Units, equipment vendors, Quality, Regulatory, Finance and Marketing to drive effective results Interface with related technical experts and category scientists to understand technologies and applications Manage technical timelines, communicate clearly and timely, raise issues and risks, and develop contingency plans with strong project management Monitor emerging trends and competitive activities in assigned categories Conduct appropriate testing and develop recommendations/contingency plans based on findings Assist in scoping exploratory ideas and participate in ideation sessions Conduct lab tests, pilot plant and large-scale tests within manufacturing facilities to optimize formulation and/or process Write specifications that deliver consistent, high-quality products Mentor and collaborate with colleagues within and outside the immediate team Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Dairy Science, Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or related fields Experience with cheese and dairy ingredients or products, formulations and manufacturing processes or dairy science education Project management experience, technical expertise, and food science/processing knowledge Deep knowledge of commercialization processes and the ability to troubleshoot challenges Scientist Minimum 2+ years Product Development Experience within a CPG or equivalent OR Sr Scientist Minimum 5+ years Product Development Experience within a CPG or equivalent Ability to work effectively in a team environment Knowledge of consumer goods, food chemistry, analytical testing, formulations and processing used in food manufacturing Understanding of ingredient interactions/functionality Executional excellence and personal leadership Self-motivated problem solver with the drive to deliver objectives in a complex environment Experience developing and executing work plans and driving for results in challenging settings Excellent verbal and written communication Willingness to travel up to 30% (travel may include US and Canada internal plants, co-manufacturers, and suppliers) Compensation and Benefits
Seniority: Scientist or Sr Scientist depending on experience Salary ranges: Scientist $77,800 - $97,300; Sr Scientist $88,000 - $110,000 New Hire Base Salary Range: $88,000 - $110,000 Bonus: Eligible for performance-based bonus Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, vision, savings plans, and wellbeing programs described in Kraft Heinz’s benefits materials.
