Job Description
Le Petit Four bakery is looking for a skilled culinary artist to join our team as a Pastry Chef. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in pastry making, cakes, dough and able to develop new and tasty recipes for Le Petit Four’s stores and catering menus. The Pastry Chef will manage the pastry department in our future warehouse in Needham, ensuring the highest quality and attention to detail. They must also strictly follow health and safety standards to provide clients with the best pastries possible. Objectives of this role:
Manage the pastry section of Le Petit Four’s kitchen, liaising with the Head chef, executives and kitchen staff to ensure a successful working environment. Develop new and exciting desserts for our fixed menus, seasonal menus and catering Menus. Overseeing the pastry section, ensuring that preparation, timing, and presentation align with the demands. Sourcing and selecting top-quality ingredients to enhance flavors, textures, and overall dessert quality. Meet with clients to discuss custom-made desserts and pastries for special occasions. Teaching and mentoring new pastry assistants, bakers and apprentices, passing on pastry techniques and kitchen etiquette. Upholding strict food safety and hygiene regulations to maintain a clean and compliant kitchen environment. Responsibilities:
Create, prepare and design desserts and pastries according to general and seasonal menus. Decorate pastries using a variety of different icings, toppings, glaze, chocolate decoration…. Order new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the kitchen’s pastry section. Prepare ingredients and handle baking equipment. Monitor the stock of baking ingredients and equipment. Manage the pastry department of Le Petit Four’s kitchen. Skills and qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of baking and pastry-making techniques and attention to detail. Experience in a managerial or leadership role. Understand how ingredients interact with each other, respond to different temperatures, and change with friction and storage. In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles and food preparation standards. Strong leadership skills and an ability to provide clear instructions to other members of the pastry staff. Working knowledge of baking techniques and other kitchen equipment. Superb organizational skills when working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evening, and Holidays. Excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm for teamwork. Preferred qualifications:
Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, or relevant field. Experience as a pastry chef, baker, or a related role. Strong sense of culinary creativity with attention to detail. Experience in a managerial or leadership role. Job Type: Full-time. Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year.
