We are seeking an

HPC Scientist

in our

Broomfield, CO

location. Quantinuum is a leader in the full stack of Quantum Computing from hardware design, build and operation, to Quantum Operating System development and deployment, to end user software development. Several of these stages require traditional HPC resources, separated or integrated with the Quantum Computers themselves. This is a tremendous opportunity to leverage your traditional HPC expertise to join a sector in exponential growth at an early stage and become one of the first experts in the field.

Base pay range

$140,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Contributes to planning, installing, configuring, maintaining and supporting one or more Linux HPC clusters, including web-based HPC services such as Open OnDemand and/or JupyterHub Assists scientific computing users with developing, compiling, profiling, debugging and running their workloads in an effective and efficient way, using tools such as GNU compilers, LLVM (including clang and flang), Intel compiler, OpenMP, MPI, Dask, etc Contributes to maintaining accurate and up to date end-users-facing documentation about the HPC systems, supporting the usage of the HPC systems and infrastructure. Works with users to explain the documentation and improves it as needed Monitors system health, integrity, and resource utilization. Uses metrics to inform management about future purchase decisions Works collaboratively with security, networking, user support, and researchers to ensure needs are met and policies are implemented

YOU MUST HAVE

Master’s degree minimum 3+ years of experience (advanced degree inclusive) in an HPC support or administrator role 2+ years of hands-on Linux/Unix administration and HPC systems deployment and management, including storage, computing, and InfiniBand networks 2+ years of scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python) and using automation/configuration tools to maintain reproducible HPC states 1+ year of experience collaborating with external vendor support engineers to troubleshoot issues and collect/analyze logs Due to contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, or eligible visa holder) Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be a PRC national or Russian national unless also a U.S. citizen

WE VALUE

PhD in mathematics, computer science, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field 2+ years post-PhD experience in HPC support or administration Experience coordinating with external vendor support and collecting technical logs Willingness and ability to learn new technologies Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining web-based services in an HPC environment (e.g., OpenOnDemand or JupyterHub) Familiarity with SLURM workload management, debugging and configuring for various use cases Familiarity with Lmod modules and Spack Ability to write and maintain scripts in languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, Lua Experience with monitoring systems and alerting for production environments Experience administering environments with multiple Python versions, Dask, compilers, OpenMP, MPI, and related libraries Proficiency in one or more compiled languages (C, C++, Fortran, Rust) History of supporting code development in scientific computing Public-facing work such as code repositories, patents, or conference presentations Being a Linux Cluster Institute graduate, or a SIGHPC member, or equivalent experience Experience configuring LDAP in Linux environmentsConnecting to Microsoft Active Directory Experience with git and version control Excellent written and oral communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range for this role is $140,000 – $175,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
