Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Biology role at Concordia University, Nebraska. Location: Seward, Nebraska. The main campus and the role are located in Seward. Position Purpose
This position provides instruction in Biology, program and curriculum development specializing in anatomy, physiology, and related human biology. This role advises and mentors students and participates in marketing and recruitment for the Biology program as assigned by the Chair of the Natural Sciences Department. Must be at least 19 years of age to apply. Responsibilities
Teach classes in Biology and related areas based on the needs of the department. Preferred instructional assignments include human anatomy and physiology, including gross anatomy. Beyond these specific courses, the candidate should be willing to teach a variety of biology and closely related science courses, based on qualifications. Engage in departmental planning, course and program assessment, curriculum development, student advising, and assistance with student recruitment. Mentor students involved in research. Provide leadership for student internships and job opportunities including maintaining and establishing contacts in business and industry. Collaborate with colleagues from multiple departments to serve the university. Actively pursue scholarly and academic research activities that are mutually beneficial. Ensure biology laboratory facilities are fully operational with proper supplies and teaching tools. Demonstrate a willingness to embrace the mission and vision of Concordia University, Nebraska. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Ph.D. or terminal degree in Biology or a closely related field preferred. Candidates who have earned a Master's degree and who agree to pursue a terminal degree will be considered. Experience
Appropriate successful experience in the workplace or in a classroom that will lead to successful university-level teaching and mentoring in an acceptable subset of the following areas: evidence of excellence in teaching, preferably at the college or university level; successful student-friendly advising and mentoring experience at the university level; familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, course development, best teaching and administrative practices; or a record of excellence in teaching. Special Position Requirements
Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency both on and off-campus. Ability to communicate and mentor students in the Biology program. Ability to provide a leading role in the maintenance and growth of the current Biology programs and the development of additional Biology and/or health career programs.
