Job Description Position Summary: The EHS Manager ensures compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations, leads accident investigations, and promotes safety through policy management, training, inspections, audits, and workers’ compensation management. This includes liaising with authorities to meet customer, government, and environmental standards, and implementing improvements for regulatory compliance.
Essential Functions:
Lead the management team on safety issues, chairing the Safety Steering Committee.
Coordinate EH&S-related projects with Facilities and Maintenance teams.
Manage site EH&S programs, procedures, training, incident investigations, and the SafeStart Program.
Assess hazards and develop control practices to eliminate risks.
Collaborate with departments on safety and 6S initiatives for continuous improvement.
Track, report, and analyze accident statistics, recommending solutions.
Develop and oversee EH&S programs and compliance tracking (Gensuite).
Prepare environmental compliance reports (Tier II, Form R, etc.).
Design and implement emergency response and contingency plans.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to wastewater, air quality, and noise.
Maintain adherence to federal, state, and local EHS laws.
Set safety goals and strategies for accident prevention and cost control.
Investigate accidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
Implement and monitor the Cardinal Rules of Safety.
Work with production teams to improve ergonomics and safety measures.
Generate monthly and quarterly EH&S reports for management.
Conduct hazard assessments and EHS audits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in documenting, planning, and executing EH&S compliance programs.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
Project management skills, including capital projects and ergonomics.
Desired Skills:
Highly organized, collaborative, and effective in team environments.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills across all management levels.
Hands-on experience with team objectives.
Experience with industrial pretreatment processes for metals removal.
Experience & Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Safety, Environmental, or related Engineering; MS or MBA preferred.
5+ years’ manufacturing EH&S experience preferred.
CSP and/or ASP certification strongly preferred.
Knowledge of 6S and continuous improvement is a plus.
Physical Demands: Occasional squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting, sitting; infrequent stair and ladder climbing; frequent walking on rough surfaces and near machinery.
