Job Description Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the General Manager

Location:

Mentor / RP, OH

Education:

A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or safety related field is required.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of direct work in EHS in a manufacturing environment. EHS Certifications preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the facilities meet all OSHA and EPA regulations and are in compliance with the codes. Lead accident investigations. Correspond with local authorities as necessary to ensure compliance with customer requirements, government regulations, wastewater discharge and air emissions. This includes, but not is limited to: troubleshooting, recommending, and implementing areas of improvement where compliance with regulations is needed.

Coordinate and implement design changes in wastewater, air quality, and elevated noise areas to meet regulatory requirements.

Prepare and submit various environmental reports including Tier II, Form R, and Facility annual reports to meet regulatory and PCC requirements in hazardous waste and materials management, air pollution emission maps, etc.

Participate in development and implementation of emergency response procedures and contingency plan.

Participate in management of plant environmental, health & safety programs including development of programs, procedures, training, JHAs, incident investigations and corrective actions.

Develop and implement programs to meet regulatory requirements; stay apprised of developments in Federal, State, and local laws affecting the company.

Assist line and staff management to understand OSHA, EPA regulations and standards, including guidance on inspections and citations.

Evaluate hazardous conditions and practices; develop hazard control practices and programs; communicate hazard control information.

Guide and assist plant personnel with critical safety and health problems; act as champion for the Safety Steering Committee.

Review accident statistics and make recommendations for corrective actions; work with trade and professional organizations to promote health and safety goals.

Assess new developments in health and safety with potential application to the company; establish target areas and long-range accident prevention objectives.

Represent the company in dealings with government agencies on safety, environmental, and health matters.

Investigate injuries with line and staff personnel and notify top management of relevant details.

Ensure ongoing compliance with location air and water permits; perform workplace hazard and risk assessments; participate in PCC EHS audits and safety committee activities.

Maintain excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills; be a team player with strong customer orientation.

Experience working with industrial pretreatment processes to remove heavy metals from the waste stream.

Identify technical problems and resolve issues rapidly; work independently and as part of a team; process- and results-oriented with a continuous improvement focus.

Adhere to safety focus; be detail-oriented; perform other responsibilities as required or assigned.

Physical and Mental Demands

Must be able to perform job demands both physically and mentally.

Handle high stress with tight deadlines; knowledge and experience with managing hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
