Overview

The Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks applicants for two (2) Teaching Faculty positions to be effective July 1, 2026. These positions will be fixed-term 9-month faculty at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor or Teaching Associate Professor, depending on the selected candidates' qualifications and experience. Responsibilities

Teaching load of three courses per semester, primarily at the fundamental and intermediate undergraduate levels. The positions cover topics in biology including, but not limited to: Anatomy & Physiology, Molecular & Cellular Biology, and Ecology & Evolution. Microbiology is a particular priority, and applicants with expertise in this area are especially encouraged to apply. Engage in departmental service. Opportunities for summer teaching, if desired. Qualifications

Ph.D. required, but doctoral candidates who expect to have completed their degree by the appointment start date will be considered. Record of independent college teaching experience. Terms

Initial employment period will be for 3 years with potential for renewal; promotion is possible in 6-year increments.
