The Laboratory Research Technician for the Department of Microbiology will primarily be responsible for organizing and performing animal research studies, performing benchtop immunologic assays, bacterial culture and protein purification with biochemical characterization, and ordering supplies and maintaining laboratory receipts and safety paperwork. This work will require teamwork and coordination with other lab members, maintenance of accurate and timely records of experimental procedures and results, and maintaining supply inventories for the laboratory.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Strong organizational skills.
Familiarity with the principles of biology (preferably microbiology & immunology).
Proficient research experiment skills and techniques.
Proficient laboratory record keeping and maintenance skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
Willingness to work in solo and team environments and multitask during the workday.
Required Education And/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
OR High School Diploma/Equivalent and 6 years’ laboratory research experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a Biological or Chemical Science.
Experience in rodent handling and tissue processing.
Experience in laboratory techniques such as molecular biology, cloning, cell culture, ELISA, and flow cytometry are desirable.
Experience in aseptic techniques and culture and maintenance of microbial stocks.
Experience in statistical analysis and/or big data management.
