Owen Electric Company Safety Manager:
The Electrical Safety Manager will provide the safety support needed to help identify gaps in the Electrical Safety Program. They will help implement safety controls associated with electrical work hazards, including field review/validation, process development of electrical work hazardous guidelines, and in-field safety observations. They will also review safety lock-out/tagout procedure verification and personal protective equipment for electrical work scopes to help classify/prevent hazards related to electrocution, electric shock, burns, or electrical fires. Consultation will also be expected on electrical safety issues and the use of standards including OSHA, NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, and EM-385. Responsibilities:
Support company Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program. Maintain SME-level knowledge of NFPA 70E, electrical safety, and act as the company SME for electrical safety and NFPA 70E compliance. Attend weekly jobsite coordination meetings and discuss safety issues. Assist with pre-job assessments for major electrical projects. Answer electrical safety questions and perform program presentations. Maintain the company's electrical safety procedures to ensure compliance. Coordinate and conduct safety trainings, including new hire orientations. Conduct electrical training to maintain knowledge levels among electrical workers. Conduct audits and reviews of electrical equipment, installations, and facilities. Develop and maintain electrical safety training programs. Conduct job site safety audits and create safety reports. Perform safety inspections on personnel, tools, equipment, and materials. Review Lockout/Tagout procedures. Review Safe Work Practices. Promote safety efforts and incentive programs. Lead or assist in safety audits and incident investigations. Enforce safe work practices exceeding OSHA standards and company policies. Provide professional development for the Safety Team. Perform other safety functions as required, working within project teams to meet deadlines. Qualifications:
SME-level knowledge in electrical safety and NFPA 70E. Thorough understanding of Arc Flash Analysis protocols. Experience in Electrical Safety and related standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E). High voltage and low voltage electrical safety experience. Journeyman Electrician with at least 10 years of electrical experience preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred; high school diploma required. Certifications: OSHA-30, CPR, First-Aid, Arc Flash (NFPA 70E), Fall Protection, Trenching & Excavation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and interpret OSHA standards and electrical system drawings. Effective communication skills in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and negotiation skills. Excellent time and cost management skills. Ability to understand electrical systems and testing devices. Willingness to travel up to 50%. Safety-conscious, organized, and capable of multitasking. Ability to train, motivate, and influence team members. Valid driver's license and equipment operation experience. Work Availability:
Regular attendance as determined by management. Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed. Availability for site-specific power shutdowns. Minimum Physical Requirements:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing. Climbing stairs/ladders, using hands, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling. Occasional lifting up to 75 pounds. Indoor and outdoor working conditions, with possible heat, cold, and moderate noise levels. Vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
