The CATV Technician plays a crucial role in the installation and optimization of in-building distribution systems within multi-dwelling units (MDUs). This position involves conducting surveys and installations related to the deployment of distribution equipment, ensuring the seamless integration of radio/antenna systems and necessary infrastructure. The technician will focus on delivering high-quality services while adhering to specific protocols and procedures throughout the installation process. Responsibilities
Conduct thorough site surveys in collaboration with the installation team to assess the MDU’s infrastructure and determine the optimal installation strategy based on the Building Access Agreement (BAA). Evaluate the site for compatibility with the required equipment, including RT radio/antenna and distribution point units (DPU). Install and configure in-building distribution equipment, ensuring proper integration from the RT radio/antenna down to the test modem within the MDU. Coordinate the simultaneous installation of RT radio/antenna systems and in-building distributions, maintaining thorough documentation of each step. Facilitate the installation of necessary power supplies, including USB-C cables for the DPU and test modem, ensuring a reliable power source from standard 120V AC outlets. Ensure the RT radio/antenna is powered via ethernet cable from the DPU while adequately preparing for any reverse power feed (RPF) needs. Implement end-to-end testing using a test modem to confirm successful signal collaboration and compliance with project requirements. Work closely with property management and construction teams to align installation efforts with project timelines and requirements. Adhere to safety protocols and compliance regulations throughout the installation process, ensuring all work is executed to the highest standards. Skills
Experience in CATV installation, specifically with in-building distribution systems for MDUs. Strong familiarity with RF theory, installation techniques for RT radios/antennas, and testing methodologies. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces safely and competently. Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills to coordinate among various stakeholders. Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in telecommunications or related fields is preferred. At least five years of related experience required.
