ADJUNCT – CRIMINAL JUSTICE (ADJUNCT POOL)
Del Mar College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach criminal justice courses. The ideal candidate will have experience in the criminal justice field and teaching experience in a college or university setting. Job Description Summary This position requires experience in the criminal justice field with teaching experience in a college or university setting. Must be able to teach in classroom and have strong understanding of the learning management systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc. Must be able to teach one (1) or more courses per regular semester and able to work with dual credit and early college. Must have the ability to help develop curriculum and different methodology of teaching in the classroom or online. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree with 18 hours of concentration in Criminal Justice courses. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to insure course content and objectives are met. Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students. Successful college teaching experience is required. Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources and other appropriate media in instruction. Preferred Qualifications Experience in law enforcement or similar positions in the criminal justice field such as probation officer, parole officer, peace officer, jailer, CPS worker or similar jobs within the field. Experience teaching college level online and face to face courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas). Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds. Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success. Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities. Job Duties Teach one (1) or more courses per regular semester that could include face to face and online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline. Teach assigned courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes within the College grade and grade appeals procedures. Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work.
