Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor, Food & Nutrition.
Responsibilities
Manage and execute high-quality patient food and nutrition meal services. Oversee all aspects of patient meal delivery systems. Maintain inpatient par stock supplies to units. Lead and develop staff including supervisors, diet aides, tray assemblers and utility attendants. Act as ambassador for food and nutrition services to patients, staff, and the multidisciplinary team. Perform service recoveries for satisfactory outcomes. Demonstrate positive guest relations and maintain effective communication with employees at all levels and backgrounds. Participate in hospital teams and committees as needed. Act as preceptor to dietetic interns and health career students. Support department goal development with emphasis on patient satisfaction targets and budget compliance. Ensure sanitation and infection control requirements are met. Assist in handling safety and maintenance problems of equipment. Plan and oversee orientation and training of employees; develop measures to ensure staff competencies. Present at least one yearly departmental in-service to all department staff. Participate in staff selection, coaching for development, and recommendations on promotions or disciplinary actions. Prepare work schedules and evaluations. Collaborate with the Executive Chef on food quality and nutritional adequacy. Work with the Clinical Nutrition Manager in assessing patient menus. Evaluate new recipes and products for quality, cost, and patient acceptance. Ensure smooth operation of meal delivery systems, including rounding on patient units and interacting with patients for continuous improvement. Regularly audit systems for quality and safety; maintain food temperatures and temperature records. Maintain statistical records for patient services areas (e.g., test trays and tray accuracy). Implement and ensure compliance with hospital/departmental policies to meet regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, Department of Health). Maintain current policies and procedures relevant to areas of responsibility. Respond to patients of all age groups in a friendly, prompt, and confidential manner. Partner with team members to meet patient needs. Serve as liaison and facilitate problem-solving with patient care units and departmental subunits. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Service Management, Dietetics, or a related field, and 2 years of supervisory experience in hospitality/food service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with department information systems (Epic, ICIS, CBORD). Training will be provided during orientation. Knowledge of diet modifications for compliance with diet orders. Adherence to safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices (HACCP). Certified in ServSafe within 6 months of hire. Ability to read, write, and speak English; ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Preferred Qualifications
