Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office
is the law enforcement arm of the Judicial System. Our mission is to provide leadership and professional support to ensure that court mandates are carried out in a manner that respects individual rights and freedoms. We work cooperatively with law enforcement agencies within Montgomery County and the Metropolitan Washington D.C. area, as well as other branches of the Montgomery County Government. Our goal is to ensure residents, workers, and visitors to Montgomery County receive comprehensive law enforcement services for a safe and orderly society. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The Sheriff’s Office is recruiting certified law enforcement officers in Maryland for the sworn Deputy Sheriff position at the rank of Deputy Sheriff I (DS1). The Lateral Program considers up to nine (9) years of qualified experience for compensation. Applicants with recent Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission (MPTSC) certification may not need additional training if certified within the past three years. Positions are available immediately. Candidates must pass an oral interview, background check, polygraph or CVSA, physical, psychological, and drug/alcohol screening. The work environment involves fieldwork (serving civil process papers, transporting prisoners and citizens, maintaining custody in a detention setting) and courtroom duties (security). Experience:
Completion of Maryland Police Training Commission’s Entry Level Training or recent certification as a police officer in Maryland (within 3 years). Education:
High School diploma or equivalent recognized in Maryland. Citizenship:
Must be a U.S. citizen. Age:
Must be at least 21 years old on the first day of employment. License:
Valid Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent from the applicant’s state of residence must be maintained at all times.
