What You'll Be Doing The environment involves field work (serving civil papers, transporting prisoners, maintaining custody) and courtroom security. Candidates must successfully complete an oral interview, background check, polygraph or CVSA, physical, psychological, drug, and alcohol screening. Information and scheduling instructions will be provided via email after application review. Candidates attend and complete a six-month training program to prepare for various assignments in the Sheriff's Office. Minimum Qualifications Experience: None required Education: High School diploma or GED recognized in Maryland License: Valid Class "C" driver’s license from the state of residence Other Requirements Must be 21 years old at the time of sworn Deputy Sheriff status Must be a U.S. citizen Important Information The Office of Human Resources reviews all minimum qualifications based on application data.
