Overview

Assistant Professor in History - Modern Europe, a full-time, tenure-track appointment at Texas A&M University - San Antonio, beginning in Fall 2026. Within Modern European History, scholars whose research focuses on themes of the History of Science and Technology or the History of Medicine are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will direct student research projects, teach world civilizations and upper-level undergraduate history courses, and work with pre-service teaching candidates in preparation for teaching certification exams. The base teaching load at A&M-SA is 3/3. The department seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Salary:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Responsibilities

Direct student research projects. Teach world civilizations and upper-level undergraduate history courses. Work with pre-service teaching candidates in preparation for teaching certification exams. Contribute to excellence in instruction, research, and service. May have summer teaching assignments (not guaranteed). Qualifications

A Ph.D. by the time of appointment in history or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in history. University teaching experience commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor. Demonstrated specialization in Modern European history. Evidence of scholarly achievement including engagement with the field of Modern European history. Application timeline and process
