Overview
Assistant Professor in History-Medieval Europe or Early Modern Europe. The Department of History, Philosophy, and Geography at Texas A&M University - San Antonio invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in Fall 2026. A successful candidate will direct student research projects, teach world civilizations and upper-level undergraduate history courses, and work with pre-service teaching candidates in preparation for teaching certification exams. The base teaching load is 3/3. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. Responsibilities
Direct student research projects and supervise undergraduate research Teach world civilizations and upper-level undergraduate history courses Collaborate with pre-service teaching candidates in preparation for teaching certification exams Required Education and Experience
A Ph.D. by the time of appointment in history or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in history University teaching experience commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor Demonstrated specialization in Medieval Europe or Early Modern European history Evidence of scholarly achievement including engagement with the field of Medieval Europe or Early Modern European history Application Details
The priority date for applications is October 15, 2025. The position is open until filled. Finalists must request at least three current letters of recommendation to be sent directly by the author to the Search Committee Chair, via USPS or email delivery. If selected, finalists must pass a pre-employment background investigation to be hired. Official transcripts must be on file with the Office of the Provost and sent directly from each degree-granting institution to Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
