The School of Education conducts research, teaching, and public service and offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The School is organized into three academic divisions: Culture, Curriculum, & Teacher Education (CCATE); Learning, Development & Psychological Sciences (LDPS); and Educational Policy, Organization, & Leadership (EPOL). Position Summary
The School of Education at UNC-Chapel Hill invites applications for a position in School Counseling starting July 1, 2026. This is a full-time, 9-month tenure-line or tenured appointment depending on rank at hire. Candidates at the assistant professor level must have an earned doctorate at the time of hire. Candidates at the associate and full levels must have an established record of research, funding, teaching, and service to meet tenure and appointment requirements. Depending on rank, candidates will demonstrate a research program with potential for an outstanding and sustained record of scholarship and external funding, or an established record. Candidates should have strong potential, or an established record, of outstanding university teaching and guiding students through dissertation research projects. Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a school counselor in North Carolina. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated specialty in school counseling and school counselor education; experience as a full-time faculty member in a graduate counseling program; and familiarity with CACREP accreditation processes, including the 2024 standards.
