The Athletics Department supports more than 120 teams in over 30 sports. Punahou’s athletic teams have enjoyed success since the school was founded in 1841. The coaching staff at Punahou School plays a significant role in the success of its Athletics program and the education of our students. Punahou School is actively recruiting an Assistant Coach for the Girls VIAA Soccer Team. The position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the needs of the sport within the Athletic Program, conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques. The ideal candidate will have previous experience coaching a Soccer team in an educational setting, good communication and organizational skills, the physical ability to demonstrate positions usual to the sport, and a positive track record of coaching performance. Responsibilities
Assist the head coach with organizing the needs of the sport within the Athletic Program. Conduct practices and motivate student athletes. Instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques. Demonstrate positions and techniques as needed and implement contemporary coaching practices. Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. One (1) year of positive and effective coaching experience with a track record of leadership in an interscholastic program or other related athletic experience. Background in teaching preferred, with experience working with adolescents. Knowledge of the value of athletics and competition at the middle and high school level. Substantial knowledge of the game demonstrated through development of practice plans, offensive/defensive schemes, off-season expectations, and effective teaching/coaching practices. Details
Work Year: 3 Months School Year: 2025-2026, Winter Season Work Hours: Monday - Friday late afternoons, and weekends Stipend Range: $1,560 - $3,450; compensation is commensurate with qualifications Punahou School offers a comprehensive total rewards program, with pay determined by knowledge, skills, abilities, training, experience, and internal equity.
