Biological Science Technician (Wildlife) – Washington

Duties include: Provide technical assistance using established protocols to support fish passage barrier inventory and assessment. Assist the Fish Passage Training Coordinator with training activities. Organize data activities, manage QA/QC of barrier and habitat data, and support field crews. Use GIS and fish passage databases for data analysis and support field staff. Primary planning of priority survey work, crew coordination, and preparation of survey maps and objectives. Data management, QA/QC of crew-collected data, and data entry for deliverables. Field data collection and regular updates to the supervisor; provide feedback on operations and protocol improvements. Working Conditions: Mix of office and fieldwork; long hours in inclement weather; hiking in challenging terrain; occasional travel; may require carrying up to 40 lbs. Qualifications: Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science + 1 year professional experience (Master’s/PhD may substitute). Option 2: Associate’s degree + 3 years professional experience. Option 3: Five years of experience in fish habitat assessments or related areas. Valid driver’s license. First Aid/CPR/Wilderness First Aid (special requirements). Preferred qualifications include data management experience, MS Office, ArcGIS, strong writing and communication skills, and ability to travel on short notice. Bird Diversity Project – Internship in South Africa

Duties include bird point count surveys and species identification; expanding the regional bird species list. Requirements: Some undergraduate study At least 1 year of experience Personal camera for wildlife photography and binoculars for fieldwork Duration: 2–4 months recommended Conservation Fees & Logistics: Monthly fee covers accommodation and transport arrangements on the reserve.

Responsibilities include researching and writing content for the Bird Library, proofreading, project management for Bird Library, and supporting ABC’s communications and fundraising efforts. Primary Duties: Research and write dynamic, scientifically accurate content; verify information with staff. Support production of Bird Library content; proofreading graphics, maps, emails, etc. Project management for Bird Library; maintain assets and governance via editorial calendar.
