Role description Arcadis is currently searching for an Entry-Level Geologist to join our Resilience Environment team in San Francisco, CA or Concord, CA. This position is slated to start in Summer 2026. Candidates who are graduating in May 2026 are encouraged to apply.
The team in Sacramento, CA focuses on mentorship and professional growth, and supports your success as you navigate your role.
Role accountabilities As part of this role, you will assist Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Fieldwork will be a key aspect of this position, with training to oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys. A strong emphasis on health and safety is essential.
Prepare subcontracts and oversee the work of subcontractors.
Write and prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
Office tasks may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and subcontract establishment.
Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling. Regional travel up to 1-2 days per week on average; occasional U.S. travel up to two weeks at a time several times per year.
To be successful, you should have strong written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated, and demonstrate independent thinking. You should be able to work effectively in a team as well as independently and remotely. Candidates should be adaptable, creative problem solvers who can collaborate as part of a team.
Travel and work expectations This role encompasses both office work (task management, data analysis, report preparation, scope preparation, and client communications) and field work. Estimated travel is up to 75% during the first two years, reducing with career growth. By the third year, travel for field work is typically 50%. Travel expenses are reimbursable.
Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Engineering, or closely related field (i.e., environmental, biological, physical science).
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science degree in Geology, Engineering or closely related field (i.e., environmental, biological, physical science).
Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
