Job Title: Director of Development, Academic Units. Location: Georgia Gwinnett College, Lawrenceville, GA. Employment Type: Full-Time, Regular. Job ID: 288763. Join Inside Higher Ed’s role as the Director of Development, Academic Units to cultivate donor relationships and raise funds from individuals, corporations and foundations within assigned academic units. The director reports to the Associate Vice President for Advancement and manages a portfolio of 125-175+ prospects, coordinating with Advancement colleagues to pursue fundraising opportunities, manage volunteers, and serve as a liaison between the units and Advancement. Responsibilities
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward fundraising prospects for assigned units in collaboration with unit leadership and Advancement. Make and host personal visits with prospects to solicit financial support; expected pace of 15-30 substantive interactions per month. Create effective proposals for individual gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and related communications based on GGC priorities and prospect interests. Coordinate area-related advisory councils, societies or boards of visitors as assigned; manage volunteers and educate them in their fundraising role. Develop and maintain strong relationships with leadership in assigned academic units; serve as the primary liaison with Advancement. File contact reports in the donor database and ensure donor information and gifts are recorded accurately. Represent GGC and Advancement at local meetings and events; support college events and special projects as assigned. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the college, programs, and funding priorities; articulate the "GGC story" to prospects, donors, and the community. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required: 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree. Four or more years of fundraising, sales, business development, or related experience. Requires a valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in major gift fundraising in higher education and working with alumni, faculty, administration, and diverse constituents. 5-7 years of successful fundraising experience, including grant writing and/or corporate relations. Demonstrated success in securing major gifts ($25k+). Salary
Salary range: $63,500 - $79,500. Salary offers depend on candidate experience, internal equity, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. Proficiency with technology to support relationship building, including filing contact reports and using standard reports/dashboards to track progress and record donor information. Ability to work independently, set timelines, and meet deadlines. Proven track record of fundraising success; self-starter with strong judgment and emotional intelligence. Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple programs and activities concurrently. Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities. Ability to adapt in rapidly evolving environments and maintain professional integrity. General knowledge of budget preparation and financial/business analysis techniques. Conditions of Employment
