Deliver outstanding performance by maintaining a safe and healthful environment for site operation. Identify and anticipate concerns and hazards, and develop and enforce systems, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities Champion the Balfour Beatty ZERO Harm Culture Develop, Lead, and Execute strategies to drive the site-wide safety culture towards minimizing safety risk and achieving an injury-free operation. Implement and drive continuous improvement activities and best practices. Manage, lead, and oversee the environmental aspect of the facility and the safety programs within the facility. Champion employee empowerment to identify and address safety concerns, and generate new ideas related to safety and health. Promote and participate in employee involvement programs such as project teams, committees, and internal training. Actively participate in incident investigations and resulting recommendations for improvement, which also includes tracking metrics, preparing and filing safety incident reports, and applying findings. Carry out safety risk assessments prior to starting a new process, including safe installation of equipment through internal and external resources. Maintain the NC Star safety programs and related compliance audits. Develop and coordinate Management Training, Annual Refresher Training, New Employee Training, Task Specific Training, Independent Contractor, and First Aid Safety Training Programs to be presented to all employees. Conduct EH&S performance compliance audits to ensure the safety of our workplace and employees. Maintain and increase professional knowledge and expertise related to the fields of environmental protection, occupational health, and industrial safety. Stay up to date with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conduct safety inspections, accident investigation, workers' compensation reporting, and mitigation techniques. Ensure all are properly logged and documented. Routinely walk the plant reviewing for trip hazards, housekeeping issues, electrical related risks, and other potential safety risk items. Identify and recommend preventative measures and corrective actions. Coordinate safety boots and prescription safety eyewear programs. Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science in Safety & Environmental Health or Construction Management/Engineering Degree. 5 years or more of commercial construction safety experience required. 2 years or more of supervisory experience. Demonstrate proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook). OSHA 30 certification required. Strong oral and written communication skills. Preferred Experience OSHA Outreach Trainer certification.
