The Intervention Specialist supports the educational and behavioral goals of all students with a focus on students with an Individualized Education Program. Responsibilities include working cooperatively with classroom teachers to interpret abilities and disabilities of students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curriculum as necessary, and assisting students with regular class assignments. The role involves conducting diagnostic assessments for instruction, functional behavior assessments, writing and implementing behavior improvement plans, facilitating IEP meetings, and writing IEP goals and objectives. The specialist relentlessly works to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture as well as state-specific achievement goals. They utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction, integrate culturally responsive teaching practices, serve as advisor for a designated set of students, communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth, participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips, and perform other duties as assigned. The position requires a current state license, knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards, experience in inclusion or co-teaching models, comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment, high-quality communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent organization and time management skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
