Senior Environmental Scientist/Group Manager
to join our
Tampa, FL
office. This role will lead and manage a group of junior and senior scientists and participate in projects throughout Florida and beyond. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to support utility, transportation, port, aviation, and water resource efforts. Projects include restoration, sustainability, resiliency, nature-based solutions, and mitigation to permitting. You will have opportunities to lead technical execution of ecological projects and participate in business development. The Ecological Sciences group at AtkinsRéalis focuses on independent science-based projects as well as project support for the engineering disciplines. Efforts include water quality and quantity evaluations, seagrass restoration, threatened and endangered species surveys, seagrass and wetland delineations, tree surveys, and permitting. How will you contribute to the team?
Group Management - Lead and manage a team of junior and senior staff, including mentorship, performance reviews, and administrative tasks. Business development, including client interfacing, identifying new opportunities, and preparing proposals for federal, state, and local projects, will also be required. Project / Task Management - Manage projects from internal and external clients, balance workloads, and adhere to client expectations, budgets, and schedules. Technical Contributions - Lead and assist with field activities, research, and data compilation to support ecological data collection, regulatory permitting and compliance, and reporting. Fieldwork typically includes seagrass and wetland delineation and monitoring, threatened and endangered species surveys and relocations, environmental compliance, water quality data collection, and stream surveys. Independently interface with internal and external clients and regulatory staff to accomplish project directives. What will you contribute?
B.S., B.A., M.S., in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Biology, Ecology, or related natural science. Typical incumbent has at least ten years of experience. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, technical writing, computer and communication skills. Project management experience for environmental projects, including scope of work, budgets, and schedules. Desire and ability to lead business development, develop and maintain client relationships, and lead and deliver work. Participation in projects with large-scale consultation needs with USACE, USFWS, and FWC. Professional certifications (e.g., PWS, CSE, PMP) considered a plus, but not required. Position requires driving a company vehicle; must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy. Travel will be required, but infrequent (~10%).
