Overview
We are seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist/Group Manager to join our Tampa, FL office. This role will lead and manage a group of junior and senior scientists and participate in projects throughout Florida and beyond. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to support utility, transportation, port, aviation, and water resource efforts. Projects include restoration, sustainability, resiliency, nature-based solutions, permitting, and related environmental work. You will have opportunities to lead technical execution of ecological projects and participate in business development. The Ecological Sciences group focuses on independent science-based projects as well as project support for engineering disciplines, including water quality and quantity evaluations, seagrass restoration, threatened and endangered species surveys, seagrass and wetland delineations, tree surveys, and permitting. Responsibilities
Group Management – Lead and manage a team of junior and senior staff, including mentorship, performance reviews, and administrative tasks. Engage in business development, client interfacing, identifying opportunities, and preparing proposals for federal, state, and local projects. Project / Task Management – Manage projects from internal and external clients, balance workloads, and ensure alignment with client expectations, budgets, and schedules. Technical Contributions – Lead and assist with field activities, data collection, regulatory permitting and compliance, reporting, and scientific analysis. Field activities may include seagrass and wetland delineation and monitoring, threatened and endangered species surveys and relocations, environmental compliance, water quality data collection, and stream surveys. Interface with clients and regulatory staff to fulfill project directives. Qualifications
B.S., B.A., M.S. in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Biology, Ecology, or related natural science. Typically ten or more years of experience. Strong analytical skills, technical writing, and computer/communication skills. Project management experience for environmental projects, including scope of work, budgets, and schedules. Ability to lead business development efforts, develop and maintain client relationships, and deliver work effectively. Experience with projects requiring large-scale consultation with USACE, USFWS, and FWC is a plus. Professional certifications (e.g., PWS, CSE, PMP) are considered a plus but not required. Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company policy; ability to drive a company vehicle. Travel is required but infrequent (~10%). Hybrid work environment typically requires two to three days in the office. What We Offer
