Financial Controller

Our client, a growing and dynamic company, is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee its accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all functions. This role offers a blend of hands-on work and leadership, with direct impact on processes, reporting, and team development. The position is ideal for a professional who has built a strong foundation in public accounting, worked with complex reporting requirements, and transitioned into an industry setting where they've begun applying those skills in a company environment. The Financial Controller will balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, guiding the team while improving processes and controls. Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Direct and oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and expense management.

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and timeliness in accordance with US GAAP.

Manage account reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of financial statements and management reports.

Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.

Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial insights, forecasts, and recommendations to support business planning and decision-making.

Lead the budgeting process, including preparation, review, and presentation of budgets and forecasts.

Monitor performance against budget, analyze variances, and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, as well as company accounting policies and procedures.

Coordinate and manage annual financial audits, serving as the key contact for external auditors and advisors.

Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements to improve accuracy and scalability.

Mentor, develop, and lead the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.

Ensure timely and accurate submission of all financial and operational reports.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA required).

6-8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.

Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting best practices.

Proven ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with leadership.

Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar) and strong Excel skills.
