MACV is a national leader in ending veteran homelessness. For over 30 years, MACV has provided housing, services, and support to thousands of Minnesota veterans annually.
The Grants Manager is a key member of MACV’s Development team, responsible for managing, sustaining, and growing revenue from public and private institutions. This role oversees the full lifecycle of grant activity, including prospecting, relationship-building, proposal development, narrative writing, submission, and post-award compliance.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and writer with strong organizing and productivity skills, who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This position requires strong project management, writing, and technical skills, as well as the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners. Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of over 150 active grants and funding prospects. Utilize systems to align proposals with funder priorities and MACV’s strategic goals. Maintain a technology-enhanced grant calendar to track deadlines, submissions, and reporting. Relationship Management and Coordination
Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders as it relates to grant application processes. Collaborate with the development team and other key members of the MACV team to steward funders through site visits, events, and regular updates. Serve as a liaison between funders and internal teams to ensure alignment and transparency. Proposal Development and Writing
Carry out all aspects of proposal creation, including writing, compiling required documentation, and budgeting. Collaborate cross-functionally to gather data, client stories, and program impact to craft compelling narratives. Innovate and improve grant-writing processes leveraging AI tools and large language models. Reporting & Compliance
Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant reports and compliance documentation. Maintain detailed records in Salesforce and other systems, including contacts, awards, payments, and reporting schedules. Prospect Research & Fund Development
Conduct ongoing research to identify new institutional funding opportunities. Analyze funder priorities, giving history, and alignment with MACV’s mission to develop targeted outreach strategies. Build and maintain a prospect pipeline using available resources and tools. Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, public administration, or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 3 years of professional grant writing and management experience.
