We’re looking for a
hands-on, proactive Controller
to lead the day-to-day financial operations of our growing concrete manufacturing company. In this fast-paced environment, you'll roll up your sleeves and take full ownership of accounting processes, cost tracking, and financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, production-driven setting and has a
strong background in cost accounting , particularly in
manufacturing or construction-related industries . As the Controller, you’ll manage a small accounting team (2 people) and act as a key partner to leadership by turning numbers into insights that drive operational decisions. About the Role
What You’ll Do Oversee all core accounting functions, including general ledger management, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close Lead the preparation of monthly financials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP Analyze financial performance across jobs, inventory, and margins to support production and pricing strategies Manage and continuously improve the AR collections process to support strong cash flow Oversee and process vendor payments, billing, and daily accounting tasks with a hands-on approach Develop and implement internal controls, workflows, and accounting procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency Act as the primary financial liaison across departments, ensuring alignment on budgets, spending, and forecasts Partner with operations on job costing, production tracking, and inventory management to improve profitability Prepare schedules and support documentation for external CPAs and auditors at year-end Mentor and manage a small accounting team, setting clear priorities and ensuring high-quality output Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements to streamline financial operations What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field ( CPA/CMA a plus ) 5+ years
of progressive accounting experience in
manufacturing, construction, or industrial services Strong understanding of
cost accounting, job costing, and inventory control Hands-on experience managing
accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll Previous experience overseeing and developing a small team Proficiency with accounting systems such as
QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP platforms Solid grasp of GAAP and month-end/year-end financial close processes High attention to detail with the ability to balance accuracy and efficiency Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable working closely with field teams and operational leadership A self-starter mentality with the ability to
own
and
improve
