Staff Accountant

The desired Staff Accountant will have a solid work ethic, excellent judgement and desire to build a long-term career with us. Assist in overall function of the accounting department, with focus on regular weekly, monthly, and year-end closing responsibilities. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the entity's financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for ledger and financial statements of one or more operating units.
Review and analysis of general ledger accounts and preparation of journal entries.
Assist and prepare monthly, quarterly, annual entries and filings.
Perform regular and recurring accounting functions that require professional competence.
Maintain accurate records with high level of detail and thoroughness.
Reconcile bank statements, prepare and analyze a variety of account reconciliations and support the reconciliation of intercompany accounts, posting entries, analyzing and resolving variances.
Prepare revenue recognition updates and provide job analysis for month-end close process.
Financial statement reporting, projections, and variance analysis.
Engage in the budget process, reviewing and analyzing budgets.
Contribute to departmental/organization-wide projects and prepare ad hoc reporting as assigned.
Education Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Associate’s in Accounting with equivalent experience.
Experience
1-2 years of experience in Accounting
Foundational understanding of financial accounting
Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office/Excel required, Oracle/JD Edwards preferred
Skills
Ability to focus on complex tasks
Self-starter and works autonomously under deadlines
Demonstrates ability to learn from mistakes and change approach
Understands limits of personal knowledge, asks questions, clarifies expectations
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues
Working Conditions
Able to work a varied schedule to complete projects and meet deadlines in response to changing demands.
Able to work overtime (scheduled and/or unscheduled, and/or weekends) as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
Able to perform work indoors in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
Physical Requirements
Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer effectively.
Able to communicate orally in a clear manner.
Able to hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone.
Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods of time creating, composing and reviewing documents and spreadsheets.
Able to operate office equipment, including telephone, mobile phone, photocopier, fax machine, scanner and calculator.
