Description
BLS, one of the largest and most established certified public accounting firms in Delaware, is seeking a professional to join our Estate & Trust Practice Area. Interested individuals must have expertise and in-depth knowledge of estate and trust taxation including, gift, estate, inheritance, and other fiduciary tax issues for individuals and entities.
Responsibilities
Preparing tax returns that include complex gift, estate, and fiduciary income for individuals and entities, including Forms 1041, 1041A, 5227, 990PF, 706, and 709
Providing guidance and advice on estate planning, anticipated or recent inheritance, lifetime charitable giving, and asset protection
Maintaining current knowledge of creating a trust and interpreting trust documents
Forecasting tax liability based on past and future transactions
Developing and maintaining relationships with client attorneys and financial advisors
Making inquiries to various tax authorities
Reviewing changes in work performed from prior years, considering changes in client\'s accounting procedures and making adjustments to comply with changes in tax laws or accounting pronouncements
Conducting tax planning and consultations with clients
Mentoring new staff on assignments
Other qualifications include:
Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting
3-7 years public accounting experience in a tax environment
CPA certification or evidence of working towards certification
Broad tax knowledge on gift, estate, and fiduciary income tax issues
Ability to work independently
Supervisory experience and client relations skills, preferred
Working knowledge of ProSystems/Axcess software, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Microsoft Office and other programs related to tax planning, depreciation and accounting, preferred
