This actuarial position will play an integral role on the Risk Solutions pricing team within Retirement Income Solutions (RIS). The Risk Solutions business has a wide variety of products, including UK Reinsurance, Specialized Benefit Resources, and Post Retirement Benefits.
The successful candidate will perform quantitative analysis in underwriting, pricing, and closing in alignment with MetLife’s enterprise strategy. The role will support the pricing across the various products offered within Risk Solutions with a focus on UK Longevity Reinsurance and UK Funded Reinsurance. The role will work closely with all RIS business and functional partners, including actuarial, investments, operations, legal, risk and finance. The candidate will help to create value to RIS through new business pricing with their skillset to evaluate and price risk with appropriate returns. The candidate will use their critical thinking skillset to challenge processes and assumptions to ensure underwriting and pricing results are accurate.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial modeling of liability cashflow, reserve, asset return, capital projection, and risk sensitivities
Analysis of pricing metrics including return on investment, value of new business, and capital deployed
Underwriting including using predictive mortality model and deal specific experience analysis
Analyze and propose assumptions for marital status and spouse age for unknown population
Support and develop pricing quotes for large new business transactions across all Risk Solutions products
Identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve pricing for the Risk Solutions products
Partner closely with business lead, R&D team, investments, finance, risk, legal, and other corporate functions to structure deals to optimize profitable opportunities for MetLife
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, or related discipline
5+ years of experience in insurance and or reinsurance
Strong analytical, financial modeling and problem-solving skills
Ability to operate effectively in a highly-matrixed environment
Preferred:
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
Experience pricing for group annuity or group life risks
Experience with case specific mortality underwriting
Experience using Alteryx and Prophet
The expected salary range for this position is $114,000 - $152,100. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
