with at least 5 years of experience to support our Texas and Louisiana site investigation and remediation team, and our growing national risk assessment and toxicology practice. We are seeking an experienced environmental risk assessor to collaborate with our current project teams in project planning and execution as well as public outreach and stakeholder communication. Risk assessments will be prepared to meet the requirements of federal, state, and local regulations including Texas and Louisiana regulations. The position will involve coordination and implementation of project work associated with multimedia (air, water, and soil) risk assessments and environmental regulatory compliance in the industrial/commercial and government sectors as well as project management. Your Impact This position offers the opportunity to work with experienced risk assessment professionals to support a large and diverse team of engineers and scientists to address complex environmental challenges executing the following roles/responsibilities: Directs and supervises targeted technical assignments and manages projects tasks or specific technical elements of projects; Perform as risk assessor authoring proposals and projects with review and direction from Senior and Principal level risk assessors; Client and regulator interaction experience, particularly with scoping of risk assessments and application of the risk assessment results and conclusions in site decision-making; Provide technical review for projects to comply with environmental regulations, company standards, contract requirements, and related specifications; and Occasional travel for projects, conferences, business development, or training. Who You Are Required Qualifications B.S. or M.S. in Toxicology, Biology, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health or related scientific discipline 5+ years relevant post-education experience in conducting, authoring, directing, and conducting technical review of multi-media environmental risk assessments with increasing levels of project complexity and responsibility Progressive career development providing environmental consulting services to clients in the industrial/commercial and government sectors Knowledge of and hands-on experience with environmental risk assessment principles, procedures, and guidance Demonstrated success supporting projects for both private sector and governmental clients Experience with scoping, managing, and conducting each of the stages of the CERCLA process including: Support for development of work plans and QAPPs (including evaluating sampling strategies and appropriateness of data for risk) and review of multi-media baseline human health risk assessments for common and emerging contaminants Support of projects through feasibility studies and Records of Decision Experience with risk communication with clients, stakeholders, and at conferences and professional organizations including presenting complex technical information in a concise and accurate manner Strong work ethic and must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to successfully lead junior staff, and work as part of teams and achieve team objectives Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree is preferred. Essential professional licensure/certification. 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred. Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
