The Manager, Global Accounting is a newly created leadership role supporting the transformation of global accounting operations through the implementation and management of a shared services model. This position is responsible for driving the integration and standardization of core financial processes across the organization’s sites in the U.S. and international locations. Working closely with site finance teams, this role will lead centralized accounting processes including reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close activities, while also maintaining alignment with site-level inventory and costing operations due to the manufacturing nature of the business. This role is part of a broader finance transformation initiative aimed at enhancing consistency, efficiency, and scalability in accounting practices globally. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned accounting leader with strong technical expertise, a process-improvement mindset, and experience implementing shared service models and ERP systems in a dynamic, multi-site environment. Key Responsibilities
Shared Services Management
Lead the transition and ongoing management of a centralized shared services function for core accounting areas, including AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close. Work collaboratively with site finance teams to align local processes with shared services standards. Drive consistency in global financial reporting and reconciliations through documented processes and standardized tools. Continuously assess and improve accounting workflows to optimize service delivery, scalability, and internal control compliance. Coordinate closely with IT and functional partners to support ERP system integration and automation of accounting functions. Support the design and implementation of a scalable future-state accounting operating model. Inventory & Costing Alignment
Partner with site finance and operations teams to ensure the integrity of inventory and costing processes, while aligning data and reporting with centralized accounting functions. Develop mechanisms to monitor and reconcile site-level inventory and costing data with corporate financial systems. Provide oversight and analysis of inventory valuation methods and cost accounting practices, supporting standardization where applicable. SAP Implementation Support
Act as a key finance stakeholder in the implementation of SAP financial modules including GL, AP, AR, and reconciliation tools. Work with IT and business users to ensure accurate data integration between SAP and shared services processes. Validate SAP financial data against reporting requirements and contribute to user acceptance testing and training. Oversee timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting across all sites, coordinating inputs from global finance teams. Review and approve journal entries and financial statements for accuracy and compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal policies. Serve as the liaison for global audit processes and external auditors. Team Leadership and Development
Manage and develop a global accounting team, fostering collaboration, professional development, and high performance. Promote clear and consistent communication between centralized and site-based finance staff. Deliver training and guidance to ensure consistent adoption of shared services processes and tools. Process Improvement & Best Practices
Champion continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency, accuracy, and automation in accounting operations. Establish and enforce global accounting policies and internal controls. Lead adoption of tools and technologies that support process modernization and data transparency. Stakeholder Collaboration
Collaborate with finance leadership, site finance managers, HR, IT, and operations to ensure alignment of financial goals and system capabilities. Support cross-functional teams in resolving issues that impact accounting processes, reporting, or system integrations. Serve as a key partner in organizational initiatives that impact the financial function across regions. Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required). Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred. 7+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role managing global teams or shared services. Experience working with manufacturing/production accounting, particularly related to inventory management and costing. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics), particularly in the context of financial modules such as GL, AP, AR, and financial reporting. Experience with shared services models and centralization of accounting functions is highly preferred. Knowledge & Skills
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience with GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and reconciliations. Solid understanding of inventory management and costing methodologies in a manufacturing environment. Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams through the ERP implementation process. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and guide a global team. Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends, variances, and process improvements. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with senior leadership and cross-functional teams. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience using data analysis and reporting tools. Leadership : Ability to lead and motivate teams, set clear goals, and manage team performance. Problem Solving : Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address complex accounting and process-related issues.
