North LA County Regional Center (NLACRC) is hiring for the SDP CSC Lead Training Specialist – Job# 1049. Base pay range: $29.49/hr - $41.66/hr. NLACRC is a private, nonprofit agency contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities

Establish the individual budget, associated spending plan, and case management services for consumers registering and/or participating in Self-Determination Program (SDP); coordinate and facilitate individual program planning to identify SDP-specific outcomes and supports. Assist participants with the transition in and out of the SDP. Assist in transferring funds between budget categories as identified in statute and/or regulation. If selected as an Independent Facilitator, assist in the person-centered planning process and the development of the SDP-based IPP. Be an active participant/advocate in the decision-making process related to the development of the individual budget, assessment of needs, and access and coordination of participant-selected services and supports as identified in the IPP. Document, complete forms and reports in accordance with regulations and NLACRC policies and procedures. Work with Independent Facilitators and Financial Management Services providers to assist with person-centered planning, payments, and related services. Initiate and respond to communications with consumers, families, service providers, and outside agencies on topics including SDP eligibility and problem resolution. Schedule and attend interdisciplinary meetings with individuals served, family members, service providers, advocates, etc. May require re-training staff in needed areas identified. Shadow and coach CSCs in the field when planning and conducting meetings. Assist in addressing issues related to service delivery and SDP program planning, including assessing service provision. May be asked to perform other tasks to ensure timely performance measures and customer service goals are met. Identify barriers to service delivery and implement culturally sensitive strategies that embody empathy, trust, and respect; comfortable working in underserved and non-traditional office settings to meet community needs. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or related human services field and two years of related experience. A Master’s degree in a related subject may be substituted for experience. This position is non-exempt and may be located in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita, and/or Antelope Valley offices, requiring travel to all offices and throughout and outside of the catchment area, as appropriate. Skills and Abilities: understanding of family systems and person-centered planning; ability to empower individuals to achieve goals; knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities; good organizational skills; ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team; excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook; basic bookkeeping/service budgeting concepts. 3 years of Regional Center experience/Consumer Service Coordinator preferred. Essential Requirements: service coordination is a community-based role requiring meetings with individuals served and families in homes, communities, or offices; comfort with independence; frequent telephone, virtual, and out-of-office meetings; valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation or acceptable substitute.
