We are seeking an experienced Criminal Immigration Attorney with specific expertise in representing individuals in ICE detention and bond hearings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration removal defense, a deep understanding of detention and bond procedures, and a proven ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients facing custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Criminal Immigration Law, Deportation Defense Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Criminal Immigration Attorney with specific expertise in representing individuals in ICE detention and bond hearings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration removal defense, a deep understanding of detention and bond procedures, and a proven ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients facing custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Key Responsibilities
Represent detained clients in immigration bond hearings, master calendar hearings, and individual hearings. Advocate before immigration judges in bond redetermination and removal proceedings. File bond motions, custody redetermination requests, and related applications. Provide legal advice and counsel to clients and families navigating ICE detention. Conduct client interviews, legal research, and case preparation with sensitivity and urgency. Draft motions, briefs, and other legal filings before immigration courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). Collaborate with legal assistants, interpreters, and support staff to ensure timely and accurate case management. Stay current on developments in immigration law, particularly detention and bond-related case law and policy. Maintain clear communication with clients’ families and support networks throughout detention and bond processes. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction and admission to the state bar where the office is located (or willingness to obtain) is required. Minimum 2 years of experience practicing immigration law, with a focus on removal defense and detention/bond hearings. Experience conducting hearings, presenting oral arguments, direct examination and cross-examining witnesses in immigration court. Demonstrated ability to handle a high-volume caseload while providing excellent client service. Fluency in Spanish (or another widely spoken language) strongly preferred; candidates without fluency should demonstrate ability to work effectively with interpreters.
