Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated
Immigration Associate Attorney
to join our legal team representing noncitizens in
custody at Florence and Eloy detention centers , and with removal defense proceedings before the
Phoenix Immigration Court . The attorney will handle a full caseload of detained clients, including those pursuing relief such as
defensive asylum, cancellation of removal (42A and 42B), and bond proceedings . Responsibilities
Travel regularly to
Florence and Eloy detention centers
to conduct client intakes, prepare clients for hearings, and gather facts and declarations. Represent clients in
Master Calendar Hearings, Bond Hearings, and Individual Hearings
before the Phoenix Immigration Court. Prepare and submit legal filings, including
applications for asylum, cancellation of removal (42A/42B), motions, and supporting evidence . Analyze immigration case eligibility, determine relief options, and develop individualized case strategies. Work closely with a collaborative legal team, including
attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants , to manage filings, deadlines, and client communication. Conduct legal research, write briefs and memos, and advocate zealously for clients in both written and oral formats. Communicate with detained clients’
family members
to gather supporting documentation and provide case updates. Maintain accurate and timely records in client case files and case management systems. Attend and participate in team meetings, case reviews, and legal training. Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in any U.S. state or territory. Minimum 1–2 years of immigration law experience preferred, particularly in
removal defense and detained representation . Strong oral advocacy, legal writing, and case analysis skills. Comfortable traveling to and working inside
detention facilities . Bilingual in English and Spanish
strongly preferred . Commitment to social justice and immigrant rights. Job Details
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year Benefits: Paid time off Schedule: 10 hour shift Monday to Friday Weekends as needed License/Certification: License to practice law in the US (Required) Work Location: In person
