Substance Use Disorder Residential Counselor (Full-Time) – Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board. Salary: $48,317/year. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 4 pm - 12 am. This onsite role supports individuals with substance use disorders in a gender-specific residential program, focusing on recovery in a respectful, professional environment. Location: Hampton and Newport News, Virginia. Responsibilities

Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions for residents; develop personalized treatment plans; foster a safe, nurturing atmosphere that encourages recovery. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to empower residents to address substance use challenges and achieve lasting wellness. Provide prevention, intervention, and supportive services addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of residents and their families. Transport clients as needed and participate in comprehensive care planning. Maintain a compliant and secure environment aligned with program policies. Complete documentation and coordinate with other service providers as required. Assist with program operations and participate in ongoing staff development. What You Need To Be Successful

Bachelor's degree in Human Services (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Counseling). Minimum of one year of experience in a residential or clinical setting. Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and gender-responsive treatment approaches. Strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team. Valid driver’s license. Ability to transport clients and adapt to a flexible schedule as part of the role. Qualifications Summary
