Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. One year or more of Medical/Surgical experience is preferred during the past two years. Physical ability to perform all nursing duties. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical and/or transitional level care setting. The RN must be able to perform nursing services requiring technical and manual skills; with assessment skills and the ability to analyze, synthesize and evaluate data. Communicates with physicians, Nurse Director, and co-workers about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Meets unit expectations and completes skills checklist for unit and all mandatory education programs; active participant in team nursing and/or total care nursing. This role includes that of Charge Nurse. Also, able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Responsibilities
Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age and clinical condition Follow the five medication rights and reduce potential for medication errors Monitor hemodynamic status and interpret results Perform head-to-toe assessments on all patients and reassess per policy, including pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations Assess and reassess pain; educate patient and family on pain management and document appropriately Provide care to optimize patient safety and reduce medical/healthcare errors Formulate an individualized plan of care, revise as indicated, and evaluate daily for effectiveness; utilize Meditech for documentation Develop and evaluate a teaching plan with patient and family involvement as appropriate Provide care to patients with compromised nutritional/metabolic status Manage extensive fluid and electrolyte needs Communicate clearly with Charge Nurse, co-workers, physicians, and other departments for interdisciplinary care Deliver appropriate care for disease condition and patient age Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to work under stress Respect and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs of patients and families; act as liaison among administration, patients, physicians, and providers Provide age-appropriate care and interpret data to identify age-specific needs Interact professionally with patient/family and include them in the care plan Maintain good working relationships within and between departments Documentation meets current standards and policies Assess and care for patients in the post-anesthesia period in the Emergency Department Participate in performance improvement activities Required Skills/Abilities
Physical ability to perform all nursing duties including turning, positioning, and lifting Accountable to Department Manager and Nursing Administration Education and Experience
Current California Registered Nurse License required Current BLS and NIHSS Certification required ACLS & PALS preferred Successful completion of Arrhythmia course preferred Minimum of one-year acute care experience preferred Successful documented/observed competency during orientation required Basic computer knowledge required Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Additional languages preferred Benefits and Compensation
Job Type: Full-time, Nights Pay: $71.00 - $85.00 per hour The posted pay range is based on experience and established in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Benefits
