Job Duties and Responsibilities

Role Responsibilities

Develop product design proposals to meet customer specifications and test requirements

Lead product development and validation activities including through the quotation phase: DFMEA, design reviews, drawing and model creation (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA)

Develop and support cost savings initiatives and proposals

Ensure design reviews are completed as planned in order to support a gated program management process

Provide technical support to customer during the pre-sourcing phase of the project

Communicate all engineering and development issues as needed to Dana internal functions – Program Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, and Engineering Management

Prepare technical presentations and conduct detailed reviews both with Customers and at Dana internal program reviews

Prepare and present damage analysis and other various engineering analysis to demonstrate the integrity of product prior to test

Proposes and critiques design concepts for cost savings initiatives with issue resolution

Responsible for utilizing the resources of the various support groups to provide an optimized design which can be manufactured economically and according to the project timing requirements

Maintain and drive Dana engineering processes globally

Additional Primary Duties

Lead product development and validation activities including through the quotation phase: DFMEA, design reviews, drawing and model creation (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), prototype builds, DV/PV testing, NVH verification, design for manufacturing, and key supplier development

Develop and maintain prototype and test validation plans to meet key customer program timing

Assist and lead root cause analysis of technical issues

Provide technical support to customer during all phases of vehicle development including pre-sourcing, vehicle validation, product validation, vehicle start of production (SOP), and post-SOP

Prepare and present test reports confirming requirements have been achieved

Analyze warranty data and develop effective counter measures

Communicate all engineering and development issues as needed to Dana internal functions including but not limited to; Program Management, Sales, Quality, Warranty, & Engineering Management

Support Advanced Program Quality Planning (APQP) activities

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Desired:

Education: BSME or BSEE degree. Graduate degree in engineering field is a plus

5+ years of experience in axle and/or automotive powertrain related field

Excellent mechanical aptitude, along with strong analytical capability

Understanding of and/or experience using CAE tools including: ABACUS/FEA/FESAFE

Working experience leading APQP, DVP&R, and DFMEA activities

Strong knowledge of GD&T and ability to complete stack-ups

Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within Dana in a professional manner

Ability to develop strong customer relationships

Must have strong project management experience in order to organize multiple responsibilities and meet multiple deadlines

Must be a self-directed, motivated, and organized individual who is willing to accept responsibility

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Excellent customer relationship skills

Strong professional presence

Must be able to travel domestically and internationally

Able to complete assignments on time

Willing and able to work extended hours when necessary
