This role is part of the Microelectronics Center (NGMC) and supports the Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) initiative, focusing on hardware-software integration for emerging supercomputing technologies. Responsibilities
Define systems and demonstrations that combine technologies created by other MDA efforts into products that solve critical customer mission needs. Drive the development and integration plan leading to the successful demonstration of cutting-edge capabilities. Develop system level roadmaps capturing the advancement of MDA and other relevant technologies. Collaborate with customer, partner, and supplier communities to develop conceptual systems leading to major program milestones and reviews (e.g., SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR). Capture customer needs translating them into System-Level requirements and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs). Support functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions across concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance. Develop and implement test plans to verify embedded software functions perform as intended. Analyze system requirements and develop an implementation plan with functional definitions and allocation of functions between hardware and software components. Provide systems test and integration support in new system deployments or baseline updates. Support system technical performance measurement definition and tracking. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure system/software designs align with system requirements. Assist with the generation of executable system, subsystem, and software requirements, interface, and test/verification documents. This position will serve on-site in Linthicum / Annapolis Junction, MD or Beavercreek, OH. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a STEM discipline with 12 years of related experience, or 10 years with a MS Degree, or 8 years with a PhD. Experience with software programming languages including C, C++, and Python. Experience developing in a Linux and/or Windows environment. 5 years of experience driving ASIC architecture decisions from a software perspective. Experience with hardware-software interaction for standard hardware blocks, CPUs, and accelerators. Experience with embedded systems debugging and system analysis tools (e.g., JTAG emulators, remote GDB servers, USB or benchtop logic analyzers). Familiarity with common source control tools (Git, Subversion, etc.). U.S. Citizenship is required. Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary US Government security clearance per customer requirements. Preferred Qualifications
Current active TS/SCI clearance with Poly Advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field. Experience in architecting a software roadmap and implementation plan Experience with embedded communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, and RS-232 Experience with the agile software development lifecycle Experience with embedded development tools such as Xilinx Vitis and GCC Experience with test automation and instrument control Experience with embedded RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks) or Linux with PREEMPT_RT Experience deriving software requirements Experience creating design artifacts (e.g., UML) and design patterns Familiarity with Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, and Gitlab Compensation and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $155,400.00 - $256,400.00 The salary range represents a general guideline; actual offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives where applicable.
