Overview
Graduate Civil Engineer; Public Works - Local Infrastructure in Houston, TX. Immediate opening for a Graduate Civil Engineer to assist in the design and production of construction plans for municipal projects such as roadways, storm drainage systems, water and wastewater pipelines, city parks and facilities, civil site design, and stream bank stabilization. Work with a team under close mentorship of Professional Engineers (PEs). The ideal candidate is a self-starter, critical thinker, problem solver, and communicates well in a collaborative environment. Background in roadway, drainage, and pipeline design is a plus. What You Will Do
Collaborate with a skilled engineering team to solve design challenges and produce construction plans for local infrastructure projects. Use design software and drafting tools to display and communicate calculations, design layouts, and concepts to create construction plans for infrastructure improvements. Draft reports and present plans to audiences with diverse technical backgrounds, translating engineering information into accessible concepts. Estimate construction costs and quantities, perform site visits, and review contractor submittals. What You Will Need
Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools. Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment involved in construction or repair of civil engineering improvements. Ability to balance multiple objectives and make sound decisions. Technical experience in computer-assisted design (CAD), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extremely detail-oriented and accurate. The Halff Public Works Advantage
