Position Overview
We are seeking experienced
Copper Splicers
to join our field operations team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in copper cable splicing, troubleshooting, and repair for Data Networks. This position requires fieldwork in various environments, adherence to industry standards, and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew.
Key Responsibilities
Splice, terminate, and test copper cables for voice and data services (including aerial, underground, and building entrance facilities). Perform cutovers, cable transfers, rearrangements, and maintenance on live networks. Troubleshoot and repair service-affecting issues, including pair identification, load coil removal, and fault location. Read and interpret work prints, schematics, and cable records. Utilize test sets, TDRs, and other diagnostic equipment to ensure proper connectivity and performance. Follow company, customer, and OSHA safety standards at all times. Document work completed, including as-builts, test results, and materials used. On call-Emergency Restoration.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in copper splicing (telco, construction, or maintenance). Proficient in reading copper cable schematics and work orders. Familiarity with BICSI, RUS, and industry best practices. Ability to operate bucket trucks, cable trailers, and other related equipment (CDL preferred but not required). Strong troubleshooting skills with various test sets (e.g., Fluke, 965DSP, Sidekick). Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Willingness to travel locally as needed.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
Experience with fiber splicing or coax work (cross-training opportunities available). Knowledge of GO95/GO128 and CPUC regulations.
