Overview
Position: Senior Robotics Engineer Location: Irvine, CA Description: We are seeking a Senior Robotics UAV GNC Engineer to design, implement, and test advanced autonomy and control systems for unmanned aerial vehicles and robotic platforms. This role emphasizes robotics software development, integration of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms, and deployment on embedded systems. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to take projects from design to flight testing, ensuring high-quality, reliable system performance.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and test autonomy and control systems for UAVs and robotic platforms. Develop and integrate GNC algorithms (PID, MPC, EKF/UKF for state estimation). Develop software for embedded systems and perform SITL/HITL testing. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to move projects from design to flight testing and deployment.
Qualifications
3+ years of industry experience in robotics, UAVs, or related fields. Strong programming skills in C++ and Python for robotics applications. Experience with software configuration management disciplines. Hands-on experience with UAVs and autopilot systems (PX4, ArduPilot). Experience developing and tuning GNC algorithms (PID, MPC, EKF/UKF). Proven ability to conduct SITL, HITL, and real-world testing.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
Master’s degree in Robotics, Aerospace, or related field. Familiarity with machine learning for robotics applications. CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and electrical design tools (Altium). Proficiency with software development workflows (Git, CI/CD). FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. Knowledge/Experience with GNC specific to guided missiles.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field required. Master’s degree is a plus.

Working & Physical Conditions
Working conditions may range from a general office environment to more demanding settings. Physical demands include standing, lifting, climbing, and moving equipment as part of on-site installation and testing.
Other Requirements
It is an essential requirement to have a legal right to work in the United States and be eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization and DoD Clearance.
Salary
Salary: $110,000 - $160,000 annually. Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, and skills. Eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee.
